Fred and I have been going to Grindell’s Ocean View campground for over 4 years, we called today and found out the phone has been disconnected.

Does anyone know who took over this rv park?

If there are new owners, we would like to have their phone number to make reservations.

Karen,

We have tried to contact Grindell’s Ocean View, but we haven’t had any luck either. Perhaps our readers can help.

memries of ocean view
by: The Burkes

Our kids grew up summers at Grindells. 30 years of camping and never missed a summer at Ocean View.
Have aged and moved on to florida in the winter and back in albany for the summers.
Have wonderful memories of staying there.
Our regards to Clyde. Sorry about your loss of Phyllis.

Oh the good times
by: Eileen Hurley Monturio

My family grew up, summers at Grindell’s. My sisters and I worked there cleaning cottages as well as working in the store.

After retireing in 2013 my husband and myself bought an RV to travel the country. Our first stop was going to be Grindell’s. Boy, was I saddened to find out it had closed. I heard rumors that it was going to close but, I just hoped that was what they were, rumors.

We did end up going to Dennisport but, I felt like a trader going down to Campers Haven. It was nice but it was not our Grindell’s.

I feel so lucky to have such good memories of the summer fun we had in the good old days.

I was thinking of coming this summer, guess not
by: Gary Farrington

So many memories from so many years ago. I have not been up there in 9 or 10 years, we rented 2 cabins one was the one Clyde Grindell built and the one around the curve from the store.

Growing up our trailer was on the hill overlooking the store and the person who posted by the name of Frank Maxwell was 2 trailers over.

I had been thinking about taking a trip up there this summer but now there is no reason too.

Last time we went up, we went at the end of July hoping the water would be warm, when I got there Cheryl Grindell said I was not going to be happy, the water temp was 68, she knew I was leaving my beach, Myrtle Beach, and the water temp was 85.

Last visit to Grindell`s AKA ocean view cape cod
by: Anonymous

Another year here camping in site 25, it`s a shame they are going to close this year. When we pulled in on 6/15/12 so many vacant sites from people that already moved there trailers somewhere else.
I seen the NEW site plans and near the road 1 bedroom modulars start at $350K and ocean front $800k………….I guess if your looking to get the best bang for the property you rceived for free, thats a good way to do it.

a changing time
by: Anonymous

I am a seasonal camper at Camper’s Haven, down the road from Grindells. I have camped for over 35 years. I’ve watched many change along Old Wharf Rd,but the biggest change will be seeing Grindells change from a trailer/camping site to a cottage colony. It will be wonderful for anyone who can afford the “affordable” cottages, which start at $350K for seasonal, not year round living. I wish the residents who have to leave Grindells well and hope they manage to buy up sites in Camper’s Haven so they don’t have to abandon their traditional summer life on the ocean.
And, no, Camper’s Haven was not also sold. We have many changes there, but none that resulted in the selling of our so loved campground. We worked hard and long on bylaws with the Town Planner, Dan Fortier, to insure that our campground can better itself and hopefully prosper in the years ahead.

I wish the residents of Grindells well and want them to know, they’ll be missed.

Ocean View Cape Cod (Grindells)
by: Anonymous

We just left there after spending the 4th , next year will be the last anyone will ever camp there…….the owner is developing it into Cottages for sale, starting @ $350K for a 1 bedroom. This was told to us by manegment Doug.
I also must comment that since thy have taken over , the park has gone down hill…..the week we were there , the wifi cafe lol , was never cleaned and thats if the wifi worked that day ………..really not the same as before.
So if you like the place , then remember next year will be the last that you will be able to camp there…….this year ocean front was $75.00 per day , i`m sure it will be increased next year
JMO we have been going there for 20 years plus

question about AC
by: Anonymous

Hi Brad and Jeannette,
I camped at Grindells for probably 7 or 8 seasons and only once did I feel the need for AC. Of course, I had an oceanfront site. If you are in the grove – on the lower level, you will definitely have to have a few fans. So come prepared!

AC prohibited
by: Brad & Jeannette

Hi…this will be our first year at Ocean View Campground…there is one thing we are concerned about and that is, AC is prohibited…we will be going the end of July and would like any info on anyone who had endured their vacation there unable to use the AC…did you find it too uncomfortable, or, was the breeze from the ocean sufficient enough to make days and nights comfortable? Any honest comments would be appreciated…
Thanks
Brad & Jeannette

Great Place
by: Fred Samek

Well we have going there for years , last year Tom from Carefree Resorts opperated the park and really cleaned it up and made many improvements to the office/game room area ,it had wifi , cleaned and raked the beach…………the (new) current owners sent out info regarding the prices and park rules to everyone that had trailers already there or who made reservations for this 2010 season……….so they seem to be on the ball………in any event it`s a great place to be and it`s on the ocean.

Cape Cod Ocean View Park aka Grindell’s will be under new management this year. Send an email to [email protected] for more information. I believe the new website will be msoceanview.com but it’s not yet up and running. Hopefully they will be able to match the high standards of Tom Moss and Carefree, they did a great job last year.

Tom Morris’ Correct number is 941-758-5335

Spoke to him this morning and he said it is unclear whether Carefree will be managing the resort this year. He said the person who inherited the resort may be running it this year, but that he will forward any reservations he gets to that person once a decision is made.

Been a long time
by: Anonymous

Hey, Fred,
dont know if you would remember me. Larry Hoose.
I left NY State in the early 90’s and moved to SW Colorado to run part of the business for the same company I used to drive for hauling Nitrogen. I went back to school and got an engineering degree. Mechanical Engineering.
I became a manager for Airco in the late 80’s.
Moved from Colorado to Washington State in 1996 to run the business up here for what is now Linde LLC. No longer Airco.

I remarried over 20 years ago and am not the same person you guys knew way back when. I was really messed up back in those days. I was addicted to perscription tranquilizers and was a real jerk.

I never got a chance to really apologize for messing up your truck and camper all those years ago when you let me take it to Canada so I am taking this opportunity to say I am really sorry.

What ever became of the old number 75? do you have any pictures of it, Fred?

We love it here in the Northwest. We live about 10 miles north of Portland,OR.

My email address is [email protected]
Drop me a line sometime if you want.

Larry

I came across this web site by accident and something told me that the Karen and Fred I was reading on the site just might be you guys.

NIce for a change
by: Fred Samek

Karen and I just returned from The “old Grindels” and what a change is taking place……..Tom Moss seems to have a handle on the camp ground and is making many changes for the better.
The beach get`s raked , the trash is picked up every day @ 11 am …………..he even put a party on for the guests this past Saturday, but it got rained out.
If Carefree takes over the operation , it will be a 5 star camp ground, and for being the only ocean front camping resort on Cape Cod it is a place to see.
We spent 15 days there and didn`t want to leave………give them a try ( just leave the last 2 weeks in June spot # 25 open for me)
Thanks
