Cape Cod Air. Special Place in my Heart

I have many great memories from Cape Cod, but one in particular stands out.

I was a brand new mom. My first son John was barely 6 weeks old and we decided to go to Nonnies house in Brewster.

I was feeling absolutely exhausted after not having a good nights sleep for 6 long weeks.

I’m sure all of you moms can relate. Anyway, we spent the day doing some of our favorite Cape Cod things.

A little shopping, eating at our favorite spots, and even a little time on the beach.

When it was time to go to bed, I put John in his basinet next to my bed and crawled in. It felt so good to curl up under the covers.

My mom opened the door and quietly whispered good night. I wished her a good night, although I was thinking that a good night would be not getting up every four hours. I remember trying to force myself to sleep, because I knew that the next feeding could be very soon.

The next thing I knew, I opened my eyes and the sun was up!

I panicked…

My first thought was, why didn’t he wake up?

I looked down in the bassinet and he was sleeping, just as peaceful as can be, a little angel in the morning sun.

A little while later my mom opened the door and I could see the look of disbelief on her face.

John slept through the night for the first time in his life, on his first trip to Cape Cod.

To this day he sleeps late every time we visit the Cape. There is something about that Cape Cod Air!

It will always have a special place in my heart.
