We are planning our first trip for September. Can anyoneone reccomend the best place for us to stay. We are a couple looking to relax.

Would it be advisable to hire a car? Or is there anywhere we could stay where we would not need a car. as we would prefer not to?

We really appreciate all of your comment and advice!

Thanks in advance =D

It’s difficult but not impossible to get a flavor of the Cape without a car. To do this, I would suggest you plan to stay in the Hyannis area. The airport is located in Hyannis which by the way is one of the villages of Barnstable. Hyannis is home to the major airport serving the Cape with flights to/from Providence RI as well as Boston. Hourly flights are also available to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island BUT you can also take a ferry from Hyannis to these islands which is less expensive. Standard ferry service to Nantucket takes 2 hours with Martha’s Vineyard a mere hour away.

Hyannis is also the hub of the Cape’s ground transportation system with bus service available to both Provincetown at the east end and Woods Hole at west end.

There is plenty of shopping in downtown Hyannis and a mall with the larger named stores in close proximity.
