When it comes to the most popular Cape Cod beaches Barnstable has to be on your list of destinations.

The town of Barnstable is comprised of six different villages. They are Centerville, Osterville, Hyannis, Marston Mills, Cotuit, and West Barnstable.

The most well known of these is Hyannis, thanks in part to the Kennedy family, who spent many of thier summers at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis. Hyannis has a fairly large port where you can get a ferry to Nantucket or Marthas Vineyard, a great day trip for the whole family.

Beach stickers can be purchased in the Recreation Department at the Kennedy Ice Arena. The office is open starting in May, Monday through Friday from 9AM-4PM. 508-790-6345.

Craigville Beach features the soft, sugary sand and warm calm waters of Nantucket Sound.

It is one of Cape Cod’s most popular beaches, especially with the younger set. Summer will find the beach crowded with college students and teens.

It is a premier destination for windsurfers across New England. Its consistent southwesterly breezes make for some of the most reliably sailable winds on the east coast.

Sandy Neck Beach in West Barnstable

Sandy Neck is a Cape Cod Bay beach featuring, warm, calm waters and expansive tidal flats left by receding tides. It consists of a six mile long spit of sand, making it one of the longest beaches in the area. If you own a 4WD vehicle you may drive on the beach here with a special permit from the town of Barnstable…Very Cool! There are also walking trails along the marsh. Amenities include:

Directions: Take Sandy Neck Rd. off of Rt 6A in East Sandwich. Sandy Neck Rd. then winds north into West Barnstable until reaching the beach parking lot.

Veteran’s Beach in Hyannis

Veteran’s Beach is located behind the Kennedy Memorial on Lewis Bay, offering views of the nearby Hyannis Yacht Club. One of the best Cape Cod Beaches for kids, featuring warm, placid water as well as a playground and shaded picnic area to get the little ones out of the sun. Amenities include:
